Choosing a staffing agency is one of the most important decisions an HR manager or production director makes. The wrong partner will supply unqualified people, expose you to fines from the inspectorate and damage your brand.
Before signing a framework agreement, you should put the partner through a thorough audit. This checklist will help you separate the professionals from unreliable intermediaries.
A checklist for vetting a staffing agency
- 1. A valid licence from the Labour Office (ÚPSVaR): Does the agency hold a proper authorisation to operate as a temporary employment agency, entered in the register?
- 2. A clean record with the Labour Inspectorate: Is the agency absent from the list of employers that have breached the ban on illegal employment?
- 3. References and a track record in industry: Does the partner have experience in your segment (automotive, food processing, warehousing)?
- 4. A transparent pricing model: Does the quote clearly separate wage costs, contributions, meal allowances and the agency's margin, with no hidden items?
- 5. Field support and coordinators: Does the agency provide its own person on site to monitor attendance and solve problems?
